We first dicovered R & J Black Builders when they repaired our house, under instructions from the air conditioning company that had installed ducted air con to our home and in doing so had over stressed the roof trusses and done considerable damage to the roof structure, some walls and ceilings. Robert and Laurie Black did that work and it was 1st class. We had wanted to renovate our alfresco area for some years but couldn't see what to do and how to go about it. After a top experience with Robert and Laurie following the air con issue we preferred to get them to assess it - we also got a competitive opinion. We chose R & J Black based on our personal liking for their quality workmanship and, well, we just liked them as people....good honest straight talking people....good to deal with. The job is almost finished ( see photos) and we are delighted. It's a great result from what was a difficult and complex project because of differing levels and angles. Their pricing was fair and competitive, and we used them as 'head contractor' so that they brought their trades (carpentry, electrical, concreting, tiling) to the job so that we always dealt with Laurie Black. We are extremely happy and they have given us a 5 star result. Note that they are a small but quality builder so don't expect to be dealing with a big name company that has huge resource back up. Note the high quality joinery work in one of the photos - modern carpenters would use galvanised metal brackets on those joins which are ugly. The rebated joins are old school, and the best school. We love the finished job, and friends who have seen it are 'blown away'. We will be using these builders again. Recommended.
